Brokers’ sneak peek at Starfish Isle, Palm Cay – Top real estate brokers got a sneak peek at Palm Cay’s Starfish Isle townhome on September 10, ahead of the highly anticipated open house when the first several buyers of the luxury residences will get a golf cart with their purchase of a three or four bedroom unit. “The response was excellent,” said Clara Alcime, sales. “We wanted to see what the response of a few key persons would be since this is the first time we were unveiling our new four-bedroom townhomes fully furnished and move-in ready. We are very excited about our September 19 open house when anyone who buys a Starfish Isle townhome on that day will get a golf cart.”

Bahamas Realty Chairman and two-time past president of the Bahamas Real Estate Association Larry Roberts said entering the development that sprawls across nearly 69 acres on New Providence’s tranquil southeast coastline was “like leaving New Providence.

“I’m almost amazed when I drive through the gate at Palm Cay. I feel as though I have been transported to an out island,” said Roberts. “It has an out island feel and you are able to experience it without any of the stress of getting on an airplane or taking a boat. And for anyone who has a boat, this is absolutely ideal because it cuts so much time off going to Exuma or even to Rose Island.”

Among Palm Cay’s amenities is a 186-slip marina that continues to attract the highest praise from users on ActiveCaptain.com, the equivalent of TripAdvisor for boaters. The active nautical community includes restaurant, clubhouse, pools, lighted tennis courts, 1,200 feet of pristine beach and a full calendar of activities. All infrastructure is in place and the marina handles fuel. A new dockside café and provision store set to open soon.

Those amenities have helped to boost sales. More than 80% of the single family lots have been sold. Garden and marina view townhomes are 100% sold or rented. The third phase of a 5-phase condo component is attracting buyers and Starfish Isle townhomes are nearing completion. Those townhomes feature three and four bedrooms and are priced starting at $649,000.

That, said ERA Dupuch Realty’s Ken Chaplin, is a “great price point.”

Bahamas Realty’s Philip Kemp agreed.

“I’m excited about it because this (Starfish Isle) is at the right place, right time, right price point for the market,” said Kemp.

Palm Cay is a $200 million investment in the Eastern District and its marina, which serves as a BASRA outpost, has become one of the most popular layovers for boaters heading to or returning from the Exumas as well as attracting local boats who dock year-round.
